Important Resources for ‘Getting Ready to Learn’
If you have a child starting Kindergarten, we invite you to check out these helpful resources:
When Can My Child Start Kindergarten?
To register for Kindergarten in the 2020–2021 school year, your child must be five years old on or before December 31, 2020. Our Kindergarten Program runs Tuesday - Friday each week and will begin on September 9, 2020.
Parents are encouraged to check the school website and calendar regularly. Your child's teacher will also be in contact with you in August to ensure everything is ready to go.
Kindergarten Information Nights/ Open Houses
To assist in our planning for next year, we encourage families to register their child as soon as possible.
We are in the process of transforming two of our classrooms into an exciting, enriching and
explorative environment in our school where our Junior Kindergarten students and Kindergarten students will learn collaboratively throughout the year. This space will provide the opportunity for combined learning and play based activities but also provide the flexibility for each class to have their own space to focus on their specific learning goals. Our Kindergarten is looking forward to using our newly created space to further advance your child's skills. We look forward to sharing pictures as the transformation progresses and we are very excited for everyone to see it in September!
Our Kindergarten classroom provides a literacy-rich, play-based programming which are led by a welcoming and dedicated early childhood teacher and enthusiastic educational assistants.
In addition, all of our early learners have access to our division’s School Linked Team to help your child succeed. This team’s dedicated members include a learning support teacher who will help to facilitate any additional supports or strategies to best suit your child's needs, speech-language pathologist, occupational therapist, division psychologist and therapy aide.
We invite you to contact our transportation department directly to learn more or get started early to reserve your child’s seat on the bus by registering online.
Family engagement is one of our priorities at Niton Central School as your involvement is a key component in the success of your child's learning. We encourage you to get involved in your school community such as joining the School Council at your school, volunteering at our school, or by talking with your child’s teacher. Volunteer packages are available at the office.
